| BREAKING NEWS! TeenPact History in the Making! By: Veronica Fields White House Correspondent Due to an unexpected turn of events, Jonathan Bell has stepped down from the elected office of TeenPact President. Vice President Kiana Bieber will step up as his successor, making her the first woman in TeenPact history to serve as President. President Bieber has appointed Senator Aaron Tifft of Texas to serve as Vice President. The vacant Senate seat will be filled by Asher Bontreger of Indiana, the next highest vote-getter in the recent Senatorial elections. The TeenPact Times recently met with the newly appointed President and VicePresident to hear their TeenPact story and their plans for TeenPact during their term. VF: Kiana, what was your response when you were told that Former President Bell had stepped down?KB: I was very shocked and surprised. However, I know that God has a reason for everything and causes everything to work together for the good of those who are called according to His purposes. I know that God has called Jonathan and that he is where God wants him to be. I am sad to not be able to serve with him,, but I, as well as the rest of the elected officials support him on his decision. VF: Aaron, what was your reaction when Kiana asked you to be the new Vice President?AT: Well Veronica, I was honored and surprised at the same time! When I found out Jonathan had stepped down I, like everyone else, was completely shocked. At the same time I was also excited for Kiana and her groundbreaking new opportunity. It was a great honor to be chosen and I feel truly blessed for this opportunity to serve TeenPact. VF: When did you attend your first state class?KB: I found out about TeenPact through attending a Student Project in 2004. In February of 2005, I attended my first state class and was hooked! I have been involved with TeenPact ever since. AT: Like most people, my mom found out about TeenPact through various home school channels. When I was old enough to attend the 4-day class, I was forced into it. I didn’t hate government or find it boring, I actually loved it, but at the time I was very shy and introverted. When the class finally came, Oklahoma 2002, I was addicted from the very first day, I loved it and it has changed my life. VF: So how did you two meet?AT: Kiana and I met briefly at National Convention in 2005. We worked together on a Student Project for Judge Alito in Washington, D.C. during the first week of January. VF: Why did you appoint Aaron to be your Vice President?KB: Well, TeenPact election rules stipulate that a new Vice President be chosen from among the currently elected Senators. After praying and seeking further advice, I decided to ask Aaron if he would step up and serve in new capacity. I am so blessed that he said yes and I look forward to working with him. VF: What do you hope to accomplish during your time in office?KB: Wow, we have a lot we want to get accomplished! One of the things we want to do is to have a National Convention Airfare Scholarship. This scholarship would help cover the cost of airfare and gas for students attending NC. This fund would enabling more students to attend National Convention. We are also in the process of creating an elected officials’ blog, along with a State Class prayer chain. Once the blog site is completed, we will have all of our goals in more detail. VF: What have you been up to since National Convention?KB: A lot of things! After National Convention, I went straight to Birmingham, AL, to work on the Judge Roy Moore Student Project and then in July I staffed the Georgia Student Project. In addition to these two campaigns, I also staffed two horse camps, as well as TP Survival and TP Ranch. Aaron and I have been asked to work for National Right To Work. We both accepted and will be working on different campaigns in Indiana from September through election day in November. AT: Whew, National Convention seems so long ago. Right afterward NC I attended the annual Oklahoma D-Day paint ball scenario game. I then spent the rest of June recouping and prepping for the National Sons of the American Revolution speech competition in July. At the competition, I had the awesome surprise of running into Brent Melvin who was also competing. He gave a great speech and we both finished in the top 6. After the competition, I worked as a lifeguard at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in my hometown, until coming up to where I am now, Washington, Indiana working for NRTW. Our Goals for our term:- To create a $2,000.00 National Convention Airfare Fund for each state.
- To have an elected officials Blog site to keep up with what the elected officials are currently doing.
- To create a prayer chain that will reach every TeenPact State class.
